
Sisyrinchium bellum is a native California plant which I had the pleasure of drawing from life in the Fort Ord National Monument. It is in the Iris family, and has six purple tepals with a golden center.
I wanted to have the feel of a traditional botanical plate, but somewhat streamlined in a digital medium.

Here is the linework traced in illustrator from my drawings. I tried to pay attention to the attatchent of the different parts of the plant.
